This person has successfully demonstrated all of the competencies required to achieve the Stage 3 Certificate in Mathematics. They can recognise the different sets of numbers and apply the four operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to positive integers without the use of a calculator. They can work with different sets of whole numbers including squares, square routes, prime numbers, multiples and factors.

They can convert and use common and decimal fractions and percentages and use a combination of operations. They can use metric and imperial measures of mass, length, area, volume and capacity and measure temperature and time in everyday contexts. They can construct and interpret flowcharts and can extract information from tables of figures and information presented in graphical form as well as being able and read dials and scales.

They can apply and use averages and probability. They have developed skills in working with formulae and equations and also with shape and space. They can recognise the quadrilaterals and use alternate and corresponding angles as well as being able to calculate the volume of 3-dimensional objects. They can grasp the basic ideas of similarity in comparing areas and volumes respectively in simple examples.
