This person is able to work with stakeholders to develop the health and safety emergency procedures required to manage emergencies. They can also implement emergency management procedures on behalf of an organisation. This person has the knowledge required to support a legal defence for an organisation in relation to a health and safety issue. They can carry out their role in an investigation of an incident within the organisation.
This person understands the operation of audit processes and systems. They can critically analyse the health and safety audit process within an organisation. They are able to conduct a health and safety audit in an organisation, produce an audit report and make recommendations based on the results of a health and safety audit.
This person is able to foster a positive safety culture as a key aspect of an organisation’s productivity and success. They understand the impact of organisational culture and can critically evaluate the current organisational culture in relation to health and safety. They can develop a plan for the improvement of organisational culture in relation to health and safety, working in collaboration and consultation with stakeholders to implement a continuous improvement programme in this regard.
This person is able to help define organisational policy, using their knowledge of the relationship between organisational structures, processes and health and safety. They can apply their understanding of how business functions interact with, and impact on, workplace health and safety. They are able to critically review an organisation’s health and safety policy, consulting with stakeholders regarding changes. They can work collaboratively to implement improvements to health and safety policy.
This person is able to carry out research to improve professional health and safety practice in an organisation. They can apply their knowledge of professional ethics to organisational responsibilities, challenges and decision-making. They can recommend interventions to promote diversity and inclusion in an organisation. They are able to apply the principles of Continuing Professional Development in their own job role, including the development of technical, core and behavioural competencies.
This person is able to identify and evaluate hazards to health and safety in the workplace. They can assess and communicate risks to health and safety and the control measures required. They are able to develop and implement reactive and proactive monitoring systems. They can develop a health and safety loss event reporting and recording system, carrying out the required statistical analysis and communicating with relevant stakeholders.
This person is able to prepare a health and safety strategy for an organisation. They can plan a change process for the health and safety strategy, maximizing opportunities and minimizing obstacles involved. They can use their knowledge of the organisation’s health and safety climate to develop a plan to embed a health and safety culture. They are able to work with stakeholders to implement a plan to promote a health and safety strategy in an organisation.
This programme has been accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), the only organisation in the world that offers Chartered membership to health and safety practitioners.
