Assured Certificate in the Practical Application of Earthing and Protective Bonding
CHARLOTTE ROBINSON
This course, developed by industry expert James Eade, explains how Earth is used for circuit protection and the requirements of electrical safety standards BS 7671, BS 7909 and BS 7430. Delegates learn about earth electrode design, installation and generator earthing arrangements. Protective equipotential bonding is explained with practical demonstrations. After successful completion of the course, delegates will be able to apply the requirements of the standards and guidance effectively.

Earning Criteria
Required
Candidates have demonstrated an understanding of a range of topics related to earthing for electrical safety. The assessment includes knowledge of legislation and relevant standards (such as BS 7430, BS 7671 and BS 7909), earthing topologies (e.g. TN-S, TT, TN-C-S, IN-S, I-S), earth electrode design and testing, generator earthing, protective equipotential bonding, the interaction of signal grounds with safety earthing and earthing of systems using simple separation such as OB vehicles.
