This qualification covers the principles of F-Gas & Ozone depleting substances (ODS) in refrigeration, air-con & heat pump systems. This person will be legally entitled to work on these systems within the UK under the 2009 F-Gas Regs. This pathway relates to Category 1. This person is able to:
Identify systems, terms, principles, units & how these relate to theory & thermodynamics of vapour compression cycles & refrigerants
Identify causes & effects of global warming & climate change
Identify causes & effects of ozone depletion
Identify stationary refrigerant, air con & heat-pump system components, functions & leakage risk
Identify hazards & safe working practices
Fabricate & examine pipework
Undertake pressure testing, evacuation & record completion
Undertake refrig charging, leak checking & record keeping
Undertake recovery of refrigerant & oil & prepare for disposal.
